Robin's Journey To Internet Success

First Look At My Stats!

Posted by: Robin Pike on: December 20, 2008

Well, I am very excited to note that today was the first time I looked at my Hostgator stats and they were what I would call pretty good.

From 12/4 through today, 12/19 I have had 179 visitors to my site and 128 of them were “unique” meaning there were 39 people who came back a second time. :-) YEA!!! I think thats a pretty good start … nothing to write home about yet but hey, you gotta start somewhere!! There are some stats on there that I am not real clear on what exactly it means but there were 734 pages viewed which is 4.1 pages per visit; and then there were 3,122 hits which is 17.44 Hits per visit — that sounds like a very high number to me but no clue what a “hit” means… maybe someone can enlighten me on the technology and meaning.

So, although I am very excited about that I am having some failing forward issues going on which I will be doing another post about after I publish this one. But I wanted to keep my happy thoughts on one post and then move my “issues” to a separate post so not to have stressed out thoughts on my happy post. :-) I know, Im being crazy!!!

See ya on the next post…

A Marathon Call!!!

Posted by: Robin Pike on: December 19, 2008

It never ceases to amaze me at how long Alex can carry on his call. We started last night at 6pm EST and didn’t close until after midnight! The content that Alex shared with his students was very powerful. I am very excited to move forward with the ammo that I have in hand!! I plan to spend all weekend — every waking minute implementing what Alex taught us last night.

There is still quite a bit that I need to figure out how to do on my blog and I am hoping to get some help from other students on that. The biggest thing I need to get in place is google analytics. I have the code but cannot figure out how to add it to my blog. Someone was able to give me instructions if I was using wordpress.ORG but I am currently using wordpress.COM. I also want to be able to move from .com over to .org as I do have a domain already for my blog.

Well, Im off to move forward and begin new relationships!!!

Need Help AGAIN… How do I…

Posted by: Robin Pike on: December 18, 2008

Well, thanks to everyone!!! I was finally able to get my blog roll going and now I am having another problem getting google analytics installed. I am hoping someone can help me!! :-( quickly!!! Someone was able to help me if I had my blog on wordpress.org but mine is on wordpress.com. That is another thing I need help with. I have bought a domain to self host my blog but I have no clue how to convert my .com site to .org. As you can see I still need alot of help!!!

There are a couple of other things I want to do to my blog too… like, add my links for Aweber, Twitter and Myspace, Facebook…etc…

I want to add a blog roll to my blog but cannot figure out how to do it!!! I have located the code and I know it needs to be uploaded to my host (host gator) but I cannot seem to figure it out. I am hoping someone can help me …

Thanks!!!

Its been over a week since my last post…

Posted by: Robin Pike on: December 12, 2008

Although it has been over a week since my last post I have been working very hard getting my link out on the net. I have posted to bookmarketing sites, social networks, done a little viral marketing and chatting with those on my skype contact list.

I know staying up on this blog should be priority and I will be scheduling it into my everyday life as of now. I will be setting aside an hour a or two a day to focus on my blog and responding to other student blogs. There are so many things I want to do to my blog but I am totally confused as to how to do them.

I just came across Gary Parkes post about how he is going to help all of us get the word out through his newsletter… check his post out here… http://garryparkes.com/alex-jeffreys/get-a-slice-of-the-1-million-up-for-grabs/. <<<< this is one of the things I need to figure out how to do; change the link to something simple like, “click here” instead of showing the entire link — it is on my “to do” list. The other thing I want to learn is how to add a blog roll with other student links on it, so I am going to head over to Gordon’s blog to go through his “HOW TOs” post… http://www.gordanbos.com/?page_id=32. I’m just so excited to see all the help Alex’s students are offering everyone!!!

My focus today will be getting my blog the way I want it … I’ll be spending lots of time reading others posts. Thanks to everyone!!!

Another Great Training Call Last Night

Posted by: Robin Pike on: December 3, 2008

Well, last nights call was jam packed with excellent information. I am very excited about the product Alex has created for us. He has put together as fa fntasic system. I worked on getting my website up all day — I came across a few hurdles along the way as this is all new to me. I have always been pretty good with working through things online but this stuff is all new territory for me!!!

As I mentioned, I worked all day but have not yet gotten my page up because I ran into a problem that I am stuck with and I was hoping my friend Steven would be able to help me but we keep missing one another online… which would figure!! LOL I got stuck ont he FileZilla part — I cannot connect to the server. I think it may have something to do with my new domain (robin-pike.net) not being hooked up to my host (host gator) yet. I went to You Tube to see if I could figure it out but all that did was confuse me even more.

I figured tomorrow is another day and I will start fresh in the morning and go at it again — here I am failing forward and learning :-)   I think I will head on over to my fellow classmates blogs and see if I can get some help there.

Having tons of fun!!!

Trying to figure things out…

Posted by: Robin Pike on: December 1, 2008

***UPDATED FROM ORIGINAL POST - SEE BELOW***

Saturday, November 28, 2008 11:47pm

Well, today I figured out, all by myself, how to connect my blog to my domain name. YEA!!!! Mission Accomplished!!! Now, moving onto my next task… getting hosted. My fellow classmates have been telling me I need to host my own site… not sure how to do that but I have an idea that I am about to learn!!! ;-)

I love all this learning stuff… if your mind is not learning then its not growing and if you’re not growing then there will never be any success in life!! I love change!!! Especially when it is positive!!!

Thanks to everyone who has been responding to my blog…this really is a cool concept. I get so excited when I see a reply to my blog. Making new friends is really cool too!!! I really look forward to all of us getting rich together — one step at a time. I am just very happy to have found someone to take us through all the steps… finally!!

I am working on getting my goals written down and I will post them on here to share with you. I look forward to getting your feedback :-)

Til next time…

Okay… I signed up for a Hostgator account and hooked my blog to it… yea!!! Then I found out that wordpress.ORG (this blog is being typed on wordpress.COM) has more options and is more flexible to work with … SO… I went to my Hostgator account and installed wordpress.ORG and EVERYTHING MESSED UP!!!! UGGGGG — I am now failing forward — and as Alex suggested, I will be doing it FAST!!!! I am currently working on getting this issue resolved as quickly as possible!!!

The domain that I bought is robinpike.net but when you type that in right now it takes me to a web search page :-(   …  I do have a friend, Steven, that is working on getting this problem resolved for me and hopefully it will be taken care of very soon!!! But, for the time being my blog can still be found at https://robinpike.wordpress.com.

FAILING FORWARD = LEARNING AND MOVING FORWARD… FAST!!!!

How to respond to a comment in WordPress

Posted by: Robin Pike on: November 30, 2008

First, I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to all of my fellow classmates for the wonderful and encouraging words of wisdom you posted on my blog. I feel honored that everyone that posted took the time to respond… if I haven’t already said so…  THANK YOU!!! ;-)

Because others took the time to respond to my blog I wanted to send an individual message to each of those that posted to me; and since WordPress is new to me I had no idea how to do that. So, I took a little time to explore the features and basically discovered “there is no way to do it” … or at least I haven’t found it yet (if anyone could enlighten me I would appreciate it).

But what I did figure out — and hopefully this will be useful to you as well — is that while there is no “respond” or “reply” to comment option there is an “edit” option. Here are the steps I took to respond to each comment:

1. Log into your blog
2. At your main page (that everyone else sees)
3. Choose which topic you want
4. Scroll down to the comment you want to respond to
5. After the name, the date and time appears – then it says “edit”
6. I scrolled to the bottom of the comment and hit enter 3 times and typed this:

*****  *****  *****  *****  *****  *****  *****  *****  *****  *****
Robin’s Reply:

7. Press SAVE

Feel free to copy and paste step #6 or be creative and make something different… either way, I hope this helps!!

Why I started this blog…

Posted by: Robin Pike on: November 28, 2008

The main reason I have started this blog is to keep a record of events as I learn how to make money online. I am hoping that as I look back on these entries I will be able to create something worth something. I believe that God has finally introduced me to the angle of my future… Alex Jeffreys. I won’t go into details of why I feel this way because other posts will do that and I dont’ want you to have to read the same thing over and over again but in my heart, I know Alex is my Godsend.

I hope that others will read this blog and follow along with me and we can learn how to make money online together. I plan to document right here every step along the way. Please share in my walk to success…

I am Finally Going To Learn To Make Money Online

Posted by: Robin Pike on: November 27, 2008

An online friend (Steven) of mine and I have been searching for a way to make money online for a while now. He and I both have come across lots of “get rich quick” deals and we have both spent lots of money thinking this is finally the one!!! We actually met because of one of those things, so, at least something good has turned out of one of them! He decided he wanted to start writing articles about products from the Click Bank site but was not good at writing so he asked me to do it for him. We worked out a deal to work together and got to work. Just a few days ago he sent me a link to a video and told me if I can afford to invest the price he is asking then “you better jump on this”. I took a look at the video and I was very impressed with what I heard. It was not the usual hype that I had been hearing, it genuienly sounded REAL for a change! I was so excited about it I took my laptop to my husband and asked him to watch the 31 minute video and tell me what his gut feeling was. After he watched it he said “if you have a good feeling about it, then do it!” SO I DID!!!! YEA!!!! I felt it in heart that although we didn’t have alot of money that it was the right thing to invest in. That was on November 19, 2008. The first training class was scheduled to take place on the 25th… wow… I had to wait six whole days to get started!!! LOL … that was a VERY long six days!!! But, there were some of the products he already did offered to us as new students of his which kept me busy.

So, the first training turned out to be great!!! Alex Jeffreys is an up and coming millionaire and I am being mentored by him. Now, prior to Steven telling me about this I had never heard of Alex but prior to signing up for him I did a bunch of research online and found that he has been taugh and mentored by one of the best, one I had heard of, Mike Filsaime. If you have never heard of either Alex or Mike you really need to google them and check out what they have to offer. You may be wondering, what makes me think that I have come across something that is different than what I have bought into before – my answer is, I can feel it in my heart. There is something about Alex that just seems very very real. I had this feeling from the video that Steven sent me and I have it even more now that I have spoken with Alex and spent four hours on the phone with him. He has given me his word that he is going to make me a success and I just know it to be true.

I have created this blog to share with you what I learn along the way. I am going to share my failures as well as my successes. This blog will be my journal to success. My desire is to teach as many people what I learn. I want to contribute to someone coming out of the hole that I am about to dig myself out of, thanks to the help of Alex. During the first training with Alex he gave some homework to be done and I plan to share that right here in my next post. I hope you will come along with me on my venture and that you can learn right along with me.

I look forward to meeting you and hearing what your goals and dreams are. Most of all, I want to make new friends and business partners. Onward and upward!!!

Robin -)
